Pastry Cook

Job Summary

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society is seeking a Pastry Cook under its Catering and Lodging Division to prepare desserts, pastries, and other baked goods. The role involves ensuring ingredient quality, maintaining equipment, creating recipes, and upholding strict food safety procedures under the supervision of the Head Chef.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of baked goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, and breads following traditional and modern recipes.
• Measure and combine ingredients using mixers, blenders, and heat sources, and test dough or batter consistency.
• Decorate pastries and desserts to ensure attractive and exciting presentations.
• Monitor baking progress and maintain a clean, tidy working area in compliance with all food safety procedures.
• Order, receive, and store supplies in proper conditions while keeping up with culinary trends and best practices.

Qualifications

• Education: First Degree, Diploma, Level IV, or Level III in Pastry & Bakery, Food Preparation, Culinary Arts, or Confectionery.
• Experience: 2 to 6 years of work experience in food preparation (depending on educational qualification level).
