Research and Advocacy Officer (Intern)

Role Overview:

The Research and Advocacy Officer will support our legal and policy initiatives. This role involves analyzing domestic and international climate frameworks, drafting briefs, data collection and supporting our advocacy campaigns on issues such as the single-use plastic ban, circular economy models, and the rights of informal waste workers.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct legal and policy research on environmental governance, climate-induced loss and damage, and national waste management regulations.

Assist in drafting policy briefs, position papers, and analytical articles for national and international advocacy.

Support the preparation of training materials and capacity-building workshops on climate change and human rights.

Monitor policy developments related to environmental law and the circular economy in Ethiopia and globally.

Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of projects, workshops, trainings, consultations, and advocacy activities.

Contribute to the development of advocacy and communication materials, including social media content, website materials, campaign messages, and other public event outputs.

Maintain and organize relevant databases, research materials, project documents, and institutional records.

Requirements:

Education:  A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is strictly required.

Academic Excellence:  Must have graduated with a minimum CGPA of 3.5

Experience:  0 to 2 years of relevant experience in research, advocacy, or legal analysis.

Age:  Must be under 29 years old.

Skills:  Exceptional analytical, writing, and research skills; strong understanding of environmental justice and human rights frameworks.
