IT Officer

The IT Officer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the IT infrastructure across Pharo Assosa & Homosha Schools. The role ensures high availability of e-learning computer labs, provides comprehensive hardware and software troubleshooting (with a strong emphasis on printers, copiers, and basic networking), manages IT asset inventories, supports STEAM educational initiatives, and assists the education team with data retrieval and reporting.

1. IT Equipment & Maintenance

• Install, maintain, and repair printers, photocopy machines, scanners, and computers.

• Perform routine preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and service disruptions.

• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across desktops, laptops, and peripherals.

2. Networking, Connectivity & Helpdesk Support

• Set up, manage, and troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity across classrooms, offices, and computer labs.

• Provide day-to-day helpdesk support to teachers, administrative staff, and students.

• Manage IT asset inventory, coordinate vendor repairs, and enforce data backups, antivirus protection, and basic cybersecurity.

3. Data Retrieval & Educational Tech Support

• Systematically retrieve performance, attendance, or progress data from internal systems and generate clear, accurate periodic summaries for school management.

• Support STEAM activities, educational technology tools, robotics programs, and computer lab initiatives.

• Willingness to teach basic computer skills, digital literacy, or introductory technology subjects to students and staff.

• Educational Background: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Work Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in IT support, focusing on printers, copiers, computer maintenance, and networking.

• Preferred Background: Prior experience working in a school or institutional environment is a distinct advantage.

• Technical Expertise: Strong troubleshooting skills in hardware, software, and networking; hands-on experience with Linux and UNIX operating systems (system administration, command-line utilities, shell scripting, and file system management).

• Core Competencies: Analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-users, and high attention to detail.

• Mobility & Flexibility: Willingness to travel and provide on-site IT support across multiple locations, including Pharo Assosa School and Homosha Boarding School.
